PITTSBORO–When Sanford Attorney Robert Reives, II began his quest to succeed former State Representative Deb McManus in the State Legislature, lots of people got on board. When he was appointed to the position by a committee of three judges Friday evening, he had basically “all” the support. The two Chatham County Judges had a total of 212 votes and the lone Lee County judge had 51 votes. There were also two Chatham County candidates. Attorney Reives received all 263 votes and a standing ovations. Over three fourths of the people in the audience were Lee County residents. The 54th House District is composed of Lee and Chatham counties.
