(WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.) — One person died and another is in custody after a shooting Tuesday on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.

Police said the victim was a male and they were still trying to identify him.

Purdue campus police said the shooting occurred at the electrical engineering building Tuesday afternoon.

Police are continuing to search the area, although they have finished clearing the engineering building, according to the university.

The shooting triggered a “shelter in place” text message alert for the rest of campus, the school told ABC News affiliate WRTV.  The shelter in place order was lifted around 1:30 p.m. The electrical engineering building remained closed.
