Last month, Garth Brooks confirmed plans for a massive, three-year world tour.  Although he hasn’t yet revealed any specifics — other than that it will begin later this year — Garth just announced that he’ll warm up for the tour with two shows in Ireland this July.

Dubbed the Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event, the shows will take place at Croke Park in Dublin, where Brooks played two sold-out shows 16 years ago.

“Before we go back on tour in the fall of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band, and crew,” Garth said in a statement.  “In ’97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, the stadium was under construction. 130,000+ of some of the greatest fans in the world. I was quoted then as saying ‘When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again…this time to the brink.’…and we’re back to do just that.”

The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event takes place Friday and Saturday, July 25 & 26.  Tickets go on sale Thursday morning, January 30 via Ticketmaster.
