(NEW YORK) — More than 1,600 flights were canceled Thursday, according to Flight Aware, a website that tracks air traffic, and thousands more were delayed as winter weather prepares to wallop the northeastern United States with heavy snowfall and near subzero temperatures.

At least 3,465 flights were delayed nationwide Thursday, according to the travel website.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport are the two airports that have been the most affected by the storm, accounting for half of all outbound flight cancellations, according to Flight Aware.
