Home / Music News / The Year in Country 2013: Garth Brooks Comes Out of Semi-Retirement with Box Set, World Tour Plans

Garth Brooks roared back onto the music scene in a big way in late 2013 with plans to launch his biggest tour ever in 2014. Garth’s new six-CD/2-DVD box set, Blame It All on My Roots, was released exclusively to Walmart as part of the store’s Black Friday offerings and earned Garth his ninth career #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. He performed many of the project’s 44 cover songs in his live, one-man show at the Wynn Las Vegas, which wrapped up a four-year run this year. Garth treated fans to a live performance of that show in the two-hour CBS special, Garth Brooks: Live from Las Vegas, in November.

In December, Garth confirmed plans for a massive, three-year concert tour he promises will make every other tour he’s done look small. Garth had vowed to stay off the road until his youngest daughter, Allie, started college in fall 2014. Look for him to hit the road sometime after Allie’s first semester begins.

Garth will ring in 2014 playing shows with a full band at the Wynn Las Vegas.
