Home / Music News / The Year in Country 2013 — "King" George Strait Begins His Final "Ride" on the Road

George Strait has long been known as “King George,” and his touring, recording and awards show achievements in 2013 only cemented that title.

The first leg of Strait’s two-year The Cowboy Rides Away tour shattered attendance records in early 2013, and he earned his 60th #1 country single in May with “Give It All We Got Tonight.” Strait capped off the big year with his third Entertainer of the Year win at November’s CMA Awards.

Tickets for the second and final leg of Strait’s final tour went fast after going on sale in late 2013, and more than 100,000 tickets were sold for the trek’s last show at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on June 7, 2014. Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Faith Hill are among the stars slated to join Strait onstage for the Dallas date.
