Martina McBride is releasing a diverse collection of cover songs next year, titled Everlasting. The album is due out March 4, 2014, featuring Martina’s take on everything from Aretha Franklin‘s “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man” to Jimmy Ruffin‘s “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.” She’s posted her version of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes‘ “If You Don’t Know Me by Now” to YouTube as well. Other artists covered on the album include Elvis Presley, The Supremes and Van Morrison. A duet with Gavin DeGraw on “Bring It on Home to Me” by Sam Cooke is another highlight.
Martina says, “While this is a bit of a departure for me song-wise, stylistically I approached these songs the way I always have which is singing with as much soul and emotion as I possibly can. I think my fans will love this record because they are some of the best songs of all time done in a very classic style.”
Martina plans to tour with a horn section to support Everlasting next spring. The full album track list will be announced soon.
