Parmalee‘s debut album, Feels Like Carolina, is now in stores, but the band’s friends and family members will be scoring a free copy of the album this Christmas. Parmalee has been together for more than a decade now, and there were holiday seasons where money was tight while they worked to make a name for themselves.

The group’s Barry Knox tells ABC News Radio, “We actually have something to give our family members for Christmas now. There’s been a lot of years we’ve told ’em, ‘All right, well, next year, next year we’re gonna get you something good for Christmas.’ I think this year will be about the biggest year.”

Feels Like Carolina was originally slated to come out in January, but the runaway success of their debut single, “Carolina,” convinced Parmalee’s record label to release it in time for Christmas. That meant the band members had to hustle to make sure the album was finished in time.

Lead singer Matt Thomas says, “We were literally doing, we were doing, we were out of town doing mixes and OK-ing graphics and everything. Just three years of work all got done in four hours. I was like, ‘Man, y’all are killing me,’ but it’s done, and we’re excited.”

After playing the American Country Awards’ official after-party in Las Vegas Wednesday night, Parmalee heads to New York City to perform “Carolina” on FOX & Friends this Friday morning.
