(CYPRESS, Texas) — Police in Texas are looking for two suspects accused of opening fire on party goers inside a crowded house Saturday night in the Houston suburb of Cypress.
Two people were killed and about two dozen people are injured. Many of the victims are teenagers.
Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Gilliland said more than 60 party goers were packed into the house when the gunshots erupted. Gilliland said, “From what we found, the garage door of the home had been pushed forward where a lot of people were trying to get out of the garage when the firing started. They had literally pushed the garage door out.”
Officers arrived to a scene of utter chaos with “victims laying everywhere.”
“Witnesses have been everywhere and scattered from one scene to another and it’s been difficult gathering everybody back in,” Gilliland said.
Sandra Vasquez, who lives several houses away, said she heard the gunshots from her home.
“We are very scared because we never have any of these kind of problems here and we find out that a lot of kids have been shot and we are afraid to know what’s going on now in our neighborhood,” Vasquez said.
Gilliland said investigators are talking to witnesses and searching for the suspects.
