(WASHINGTON) — The family of a woman killed during the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard in September is seeking money from the Navy.
The family of Mary DeLorenzo Knight says the government had plenty of notice that Aaron Alexis — the former Navy reservist who killed 12 employees of the Navy Yard and injured others before he was killed by police gunfire — was dangerous, but did nothing about it.
Attorneys are filing a claim for $37 million and say they will file a lawsuit if their claim is rejected.
