Hunter Hayes has written about 60 songs for his next studio album, but you won’t find him simply rewriting hits like “Wanted” or “I Want Crazy” this time around.

Hunter tells Billboard, “I finally feel like I’ve got enough material to pick my favorites from and go, ‘OK, once again I feel like I’m honestly representing myself, I’m saying what I want to say. Nothing’s missing.’ I didn’t sit and write another ‘Wanted’ or another this and that.”

Hunter was honored with the BMI Song of the Year award at the BMI Country Awards Tuesday night for co-writing “Wanted” with Troy Verges.
