Taylor Swift had what she calls a “very celebratory weekend” in Nashville starting with the opening of the Taylor Swift Education Center on Saturday morning. She wrapped up the weekend by accepting her sixth Songwriter/Artist of the Year trophy from the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Taylor now holds the record for most wins in that category, and it means the world to her for her fellow songwriters to honor her with this trophy.

Taylor tells ABC News Radio, “Being honored six times now for Songwriter/Artist of the Year is something I’m really stoked about ’cause the songwriters of Nashville are my absolute heroes. Those are the people that I hold really high on a pedestal. I just hold them in such high regard.”

Taylor’s Songwriter/Artist of the Year trophies will be on display at the Taylor Swift Education Center, which was built thanks to a $4 million donation from Taylor. Students will be able to explore and study music at the center, and the classrooms are ready to go.

“There will be demonstrations and instruments that kids can try without having to spend money and buy one for themself,” Taylor says. “If they want to come here and they want to learn or they want to hear a songwriter talk about what it is to really craft a song, the fact that that can happen here is really unbelievable.”

Taylor’s weekend in Nashville came to a close Sunday night as she flew out to South Africa to begin filming The Giver. She’ll co-star in that film with Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges.
