Taylor Swift is about to beef up her acting resume big time. The singer has landed a role in a film opposite Oscar-winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges.
The movie, called The Giver, is based on a children’s novel about a boy who’s raised in a Utopian community without war, pain or suffering — but also without emotions. In addition to Streep and Bridges, the movie stars Katie Holmes and Brenton Thwaites, the Australian actor with whom Taylor was photographed at the Toronto Film Festival, setting off romantic rumors.
Sources tell the New York Post‘s Page Six gossip section that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein offered Taylor the part when she came to Toronto for the premiere of One Chance, the movie for which she co-wrote the closing song. It was Weinstein who introduced Taylor to Thwaites, because “they were both going to be in the film,” according to a source.
Production on The Giver begins October 7 in Cape Town, South Africa
