(WASHINGTON) — At least four people are dead after an armed suspect opened fire inside a building at the U.S. Navy yard in Washington, D.C., Monday morning. In all, at least 10 people were shot.
The incident occurred at 8:20 a.m. inside the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters building on the Washington Navy Yard, the Navy said in a statement.
Law enforcement sources tell ABC News that it appears the shooter has been neutralized, however, they caution that the situation is still fluid and police are still working to clear the scene.
Personnel at the yard have been ordered to shelter in place while officials work to secure the area.
According to the White House, President Obama was briefed about the shooting Monday morning.
