It sounded just a little bit too goofy to be true, and now we find out that it isn’t: Taylor Swift will not be taking on a role in an upcoming British spy film.

The British paper the Daily Mirror reported that Taylor was set to join the cast of The Secret Service, a movie from director Matthew Vaughn, best known for directing X Men: First Class and the first Kick-Ass film.  The movie stars British Oscar-winners Colin Firth and Sir Michael Caine, and concerns a scruffy young kid who’s trained to be a James Bond-like spy.

Taylor’s rep tells ABC News Radio, however, that the report of her involvement is “not true.”

Previous British tabloid reports claimed that Elton John and Adele had both been offered roles in the movie, and Taylor is the latest big name to be dropped.  A production source supposedly told the Mirror, “Matthew looked at a number of actresses to play the part before settling on Taylor — apparently she was a natural on the big screen. She’s also someone fresh and unseen in Hollywood terms which was massively appealing.”

The source also claimed that Taylor would need “heavy-duty martial arts training” so that her character can “convincingly kick Samuel L. Jackson’s butt” — apparently, her character would have been kidnapped by a villain played by Jackson.
