(KILLEEN, Texas) — Army Maj. Nidal Hasan on Friday was convicted of murder in the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood.
After nearly seven hours of deliberations, the panel of 13 military officers came back with a unanimous verdict: guilty on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
The verdict means that Hasan is eligible for the death penalty.
On Monday morning, the same panel will return to begin hearing testimony in a penalty stage that will either send Hasan to prison for life, or to the military death row.
