(ATLANTA) — A high school football player has died from injuries he sustained in a scrimmage game.
Deantre Turman, 16, died Friday, CNN reports. Turman was a popular and athletic football player at a high school in College Park, Georgia.
Turman broke his neck while making a tackle during a scrimmage game, according to investigators.
The young athlete was allegedly unresponsive after the play. The football coach and others attempted to revive him as they waited for an ambulance.
Turman was pronounced dead at the hospital about an hour and 15 minutes after the accident, according to CNN.
