SANFORD–Teacher and teacher assistant positions have been spared in Lee County, thanks to a budget rewrite by Superintendent Andy Bryan and other support staff. During the Board of Education meeting Monday evening, Dr. Bryan said after numerous conversations with individuals and board members and input from countless meetings with community members, it was very clear to him that there is a strong consensus to protect classrooms , which means keeping teachers and assistants intact. His former position, Associate Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction will be frozen along with the position that would have been headed by Bonnie Almond who left the system.
