A Nashville judge dismissed Curb Records’ federal case against Tim McGraw and Big Machine Records Friday, but their legal battle isn’t over. According to The Tennessean, U.S. District Judge William H. Haynes refused to hear Curb’s case, claiming McGraw recorded his Big Machine Records album, Two Lanes of Freedom, while still under contract to Curb because they still have unresolved issues related to the case in Tennessee state courts. Haynes said this suit could be reopened once those disputes over McGraw’s past recordings were settled.
After several appeals, the Tennessee Supreme court upheld a ruling that McGraw can continue to record with Big Machine. McGraw has now countersued Curb in that matter.
