SANFORD–The graduation rate for North Carolina high school students increased to 82.5 percent this year, the highest rate ever reported. The State Department of Public Instruction made the announcement Thursday afternoon. The rate has been climbing steadily since 2006. Lee County continues its steady upward climb and outpaces the state average in both overall graduation rate and all student subgroups. Lee County’s rate is 86.4% up 2.4 percentage points from last year.
