(NEW YORK) — The dog days of August are some of the deadliest driving days of the year, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

AAA’s Tammy Gobert says August is the deadliest month to drive because there are lots of extra motorists on the highways trying to get in last-minute family vacations before school begins.

The month of August has four of the deadliest driving days, according to the American Safety Council: Aug. 3, 4, 6 and 12.

July is next with three of the 10 deadliest days of the year: July 2, 3 and 4.

The others are Jan. 1, Sept. 2 and Dec. 23.
