(BALTIMORE) — Former baseball star Cal Ripken Jr. announced Thursday that he will be offering a reward of $100,000 to anyone who can help Maryland police find the man responsible for kidnapping his mother last year.
Vi Ripken was taken from her home in Aberdeen, Md., at gunpoint on July 25, 2012, according to Aberdeen police. She was found the next day in a vehicle near her home with no injuries.
Aberdeen police said in a statement that they have no leads, but are looking for a white male in his late 30s to early 40s who was wearing a light-colored shirt and camouflage pants at the time of the kidnapping. The suspect was armed with a handgun.
The FBI is involved in the case but is not commenting on the investigation.
