Every country artist says they have the best fans in the world, but Martina McBride can lay serious claim to that statement. Her national fan volunteer group, Team Martina, recently presented a check for more than $40,000 to the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville. The money was collected through various fundraisers around the country, including a recent pre-concert party with Martina in West Virginia.

“I am so proud of this amazing team of volunteers,” Martina says. “They are truly making the world a better place with their fundraising efforts, and I’m honored they are doing it in my name.”

The donation, presented as the Martina McBride Breast Cancer Research Grant, will assist triple negative breast cancer research. Team Martina member Taira Baughman died from that type of cancer earlier this year. She appeared in Martina’s 2011 video, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.”

Martina says of Taira, “She dedicated her life to her family and to helping others and this grant will undoubtedly touch the lives of countless women.”

Team Martina has raised more than $100,000 for different causes since it started in 2011. For more information, go to TeamMartina.com.
