(DETROIT) — Police have discovered a body in a wooded area just miles from a Michigan convenience store where a 20-year-old woman was kidnapped and her co-worker was killed.
The body is that of a woman and resembles missing Family Dollar employee Brenna Machus, Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad said of Thursday’s discovery. The identity of the body, however, has not yet been confirmed and police issued no details.
“I feel rather enraged that we have another homicide in Dearborn at this time,” Haddad said.
Machus was abducted Monday night from a Family Dollar in Dearborn, a suburb of Detroit. Her colleague Joseph Orlando, 20, was fatally shot.
“Brenna is my youngest, shining star. She is loved by many,” her mother, Lisa Machus, said at a news conference prior to the body’s discovery in an emotional appeal to her abductor.
Surveillance video capture images of the suspect, a man wearing dark clothes and hood over his head. His face cannot be seen, but police hope someone recognizes his clothing or can identify him by the way he walks.
