SANFORD–Deputy Julian Powers was killed in the line of duty in 1959 near the entrance to Carolina Trace. Now, his family is seeking to have that bridge named for Powers. Lee County Commissioners adopted a resolution in support of the request during Monday’s meeting. The resolution will be forwarded to the State Department of Transportation. A large number of family members was in attendance.
