(AURORA, Colo.) — Authorities are taking no chances when Aurora, Colo., movie theater shooting suspect James Holmes is tried next February.

Judge Carlos Samour Jr. ruled on Thursday that the 25-year-old defendant, accused in the shooting deaths of 12 people and wounding 70 others, must wear a harness due to the violent crimes he has been charged with.

When Holmes’ attorneys argued that shackling Holmes to the floor would sway the jury’s opinion, Samour said the anchoring cable will be hidden under his clothes and affixed to the floor.

Holmes won’t be wearing the orange prison uniform he’s been seen in since first being charged last July with 166 counts of murder, attempted murder and other offenses.

Earlier this month, Samour accepted Holmes’ plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, a move that could spare him the death penalty.
