Florida Georgia Line‘s “Cruise” is on top of Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart for a 17th week.  That’s the longest stretch at the top for a song since Leroy Van Dyke spent 19 weeks at the top the chart in 1961 and 1962 with “Walk On By.”  Florida Georgia Line’s long reign at the top of that chart is due to Billboard‘s recent decision to include download sales and streaming figures along with radio airplay in the formula for Hot Country Songs chart positions.

Florida Georgia Line needs four more weeks to tie the all-time Hot Country Songs record of 21 weeks at #1. Songs by Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow and Webb Pierce are in a three-way tie for that record. Webb’s “In the Jailhouse Now” is the most recent song to spend 21 weeks at the top back in 1955.

“Cruise” is currently at #4 on Billboard‘s overall Hot 100 songs chart.
