SANFORD–According to reports from Duke Progress Energy, over 2000 customers in Sanford were without power Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on a house on Spring Lane and pulled down power lines. According to reports from the Dispatcher at the Sanford Police Department, the tree fell on the house at 1812 Spring Lane and it resulted in power outages in the Spring Lane and Cool Springs areas for quite sometime. WRAL reported that a fourteen year old girl was in the house but was able to escape, without injury, by breaking a window. Localized flooding was also reported from the heavy downpours. There were no reports of damage or power outages in the county. More storms are expected Wednesday afternoon.
