Home / Local Sanford, NC News / House Bill 490 passes committee

SANFORD–If House Bill 490 is approved by the House and Senate, Sanford city elections and school board elections would change from non-partisan to partisan. The bill, after getting a favorable reading earlier, was before committee Tuesday, and according to reports from a Lee County resident in attendance, the committee approved it after hearing from Commissioner Jim Womack on how necessary the bill is for Lee County. According to reports, Womack had to be reined in, twice, by the committee chair, but the committee approved the bill.
