SANFORD–After budget meetings, public hearings and negotiations, the Lee County budget is ready for operation. All county budgets must be approved by July 1, the start of the new fiscal year. The $63.7 million budget reflects a three cent tax increase, and denies funding to all non profits with exception of small amounts to the Boys & Girls Club and LCI. Commissioners Robert Reives and Amy Dalrymple voted in opposition to the budget.
