(BATON ROUGE, La.) — Louisiana State Police say one person died after an explosion and fire at a chemical plant southeast of Baton Rouge on Thursday.
Dr. Cliff Roberts, Chief Medical Officer at Baton Rouge Medical Center, says his facility is treating some of the injured. “We’ve received 8 patients at this time,” Roberts said. “One is in critical condition; two are in serious condition, 2 are in fair condition and three are in good condition.”
Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center has received 11 patients. Nine are listed in fair condition and two are listed in critical condition.
Early reports estimated as many as 30 people had been evacuated by ambulance.
