While the CMA Music Festival is the party of the year for most country fans, Karen Fairchild confesses that Little Big Town played it a little more low-key this year.  After their show-stopping performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” at the CMT Music Awards, the band headed home to prep for the next day’s work.

“I hate to be boring,” Karen tells Elle, “but because we’re hosting CMA Fest this week for ABC we went home. We hung out in the dressing room for a little and talked about the performance and got a little wine and whiskey and then went home.”

Next, the foursome turns their attention to the follow-up to their hit Tornado CD. “We’re just diving into that process right now,” she says. “Individually we’ve been putting together ideas. After CMA stuff… I think we’ll get serious about themes, what we want to write about. We’ll start that process in the next few weeks and then really get after it for the rest of the year.”

In the mean time, you can see Little Big Town hosting CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock on Monday, August 12 on ABC.
