Kenny Chesney‘s new single, “When I See This Bar,” is a tribute to that special watering hole that served as an oasis during some period of your life. It’s also a shout-out to the people who sat in that bar with you sharing their stories and lives. The bar Kenny sings about in the song is obviously down in the islands, but his friend and tour mate Eric Church connected with the song thinking about his days playing bars and clubs around the U.S.
Kenny says, “Eric totally gets what this is. He’s one of those players who’ve been out on the road, playing the dives, going back where he comes from to remember who he is and why he does this.”
Kenny recently got a text from Eric complimenting him on “When I See This Bar,” and the two of them have even sung it together at a few shows on Kenny’s No Shoes Nation tour this summer. They’re playing Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday. Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves are also on the bill.
