SANFORD–The unemployment rate dropped in 99 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in March. Lee County’s new rate is 11.1% down from 11.8 percent. There are currently 2,976 people unemployed, down from 3,153 in March. Rates also dropped in Moore, Chatham and Harnett Counties. Lee County has the highest unemployment rate in the area with Harnett posting a rate of 10.0%, Chatham, 6.2% and Moore county, 8.7%.
