Eric Church is one of country music’s top performers these days, but he didn’t set out to be in the spotlight when he first moved to Nashville.  He came to town looking to be a songwriter hoping to get other artists to record his songs.  That path just didn’t work out due to Eric’s personal style of songwriting.

He tells SPIN, “I wrote a batch of songs when I got here years ago and people always said they couldn’t sing them because they just sounded like they were about me.  I couldn’t change the lines to make it more about them, so I started thinking more about the artist’s role and kind of found myself.”

Eric is now writing songs for his upcoming studio album, which he’ll record this year.  He’s playing select dates this summer too.  Go to EricChurch.com for his tour schedule.
