SANFORD–A result of this week’s vote by Lee County Commissioners to change the method of sales tax distribution to advalorem, will result in a possible 5-6 cent tax increase to city property owners. The change means that the city will lose $267,000 in the current budget. The town of Broadway will lose approximately $20,000 in this year’s budget. Mayor Don Andrews said for the remainder of this budget year, the loss will have to come from reserves. Services will have o be cut in the new budget.
