Home / Music News / Taylor Swift: It’s Hard Going from Thousands of Screaming Fans to…My Cat

Taylor Swift is no stranger to playing to sold-out arenas full of screaming fans, but coming down off the high of performing for adoring fans can be tough.

Taylor says, “My real world involves walking on stage and there are thousands of people out there, then walking off stage, and there’s my cat.”

Getting used to being in such a loud, exciting environment every night takes some effort for Taylor, even after years of performing.

“You just kind of adjust your mind to experiencing that level of sound, that level of lights and that level of excitement, and your heart racing,” she says. “It takes a couple of hours to fall asleep that night because your adrenaline is still rushing.”

Though she’s one of the biggest stars in the world, Taylor works hard to remind herself she is fortunate to have these fans who know all her songs and pay good money to see her shows.

“You just don’t want to go too ahead of yourself and think, ‘Huh. I really killed that. Man, those people — they’re so lucky to be here to see me,'” Taylor says. “It’s like, I was so lucky to be on stage in front of that many people. That’s the truth of it.”

Taylor continues The RED Tour with a two-night stand in Atlanta starting Thursday.
