RALEIGH–Following debate on the House floor Thursday afternoon, HB 490, filed by Republican Representative Mike Stone, passed with only 68 votes. The bill, if passed by the Senate, would change the non partisan school board and city elections to partisan elections. During debate, Stone admitted that he did not address the issue with school board members or sitting council members. He said he took the lead from his constituents.
