Lady Antebellum wrote and recorded the bulk of their latest album, Golden, while on the road with their Own the Night World tour. That explains the live edge fans are going to hear when the album lands in stores May 7.

The group’s Dave Haywood explains, “We had that perspective of being on a tour and having seen what translates in an arena. We have a better idea what kind of songs are so relatable where it shakes everybody like, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve totally been there.’”

Lady A made a point to embrace risk on this project, too, and fans got a taste of that new direction in the sassy lead single, “Downtown.”  Band member Hillary Scott, who sings lead on the song, says, “When you are pushing yourself to not go back to the same well, you’re gonna come up with something different, or you’ll find songs that are different. And that’s what happened on this album.”

Here’s the track listing for Golden:

“Get to Me”
“Goodbye Town”
“Nothin’ Like the First Time”
“Better Off Now (That You’re Gone)”
“It Ain’t Pretty”
“Can’t Stand the Rain”
“Long Teenage Goodbye”
“All for Love”
“Better Man”
“Generation Away”
