(NEW YORK) — Police in upstate New York are searching for a gunman they believe opened fire at a car wash and a barber shop Wednesday morning, killing four people and injuring at least two others.

Two individuals were fatally shot at Gaffey’s Car Wash in the village of Herkimer Wednesday morning, and another two people were shot and killed in the town of Mohawk, where there was also a structure fire, according to ABC news affiliate WUTR.

It is not immediately clear whether the shooting happened at the same location as the fire.

Herkimer police told ABC News they were searching for the suspect.

The Herkimer Central School District and Mohawk Central School District have been placed on lockdown because of the shooting, according to WUTR.

Authorities told WUTR they had received reports of a man fleeing one of the scenes in a red Jeep SUV with a black top.
