Kenny Chesney‘s new album, Life on a Rock, is now available for pre-order at iTunes, and fans who put in their orders now get to download the album track “Lindy” immediately. Life on a Rock features Kenny’s latest hit, “Pirate Flag,” but the overall tone of the album is reflective.
“This was an album that was never intended to be an album,” Kenny says. “These were songs I’d written about moments that happened that I didn’t want to lose. They were for me, me and my friends, when I realized how many of them had slipped away forever.”
As for the song “Lindy,” Kenny was inspired to write it seven years ago about a guy who knocked around the island Kenny calls home for part of the year. Lindy always had a smile on his face as he walked around talking to himself. Kenny would occasionally come upon Lindy playing piano in a church on the island, and something about the guy really stuck with Kenny
He says, “I don’t know why that one day I went home, and went, ‘Well, this is one of those moments and one of those people you don’t want to lose.’ So I started writing, and the song poured out.”
Fans will get to hear the rest of Life on a Rock when it comes out April 30.
