Not only is Little Big Town storming the charts with “Tornado,” their headlining tour and CD of the same name seems to be blowing fans away as well.
“It’s exciting to watch people in the crowd singing the songs that are on the record, but not on the radio yet,” Kimberly Schlapman says. “They know all the words… That’s just so much fun to watch and hear.”
Bandmate Phillip Sweet agrees, singling out “On Your Side of the Bed,” a song about a complicated relationship that features real-life couple Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook.
Phillip promises the tour holds plenty of surprises beyond the music on Tornado. “We’ve got a few little tricks up our sleeve that we’re bringing out new for this tour,” he teases. “Some new songs, some things we haven’t done before.”
Many of those songs come from Little Big Town’s “Scattered, Smothered and Covered” Web series, including their version of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac, as well as a medley of Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger,” Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” and Bruno Mars’s “Grenade.”
