Lady Antebellum wrote about half of the songs on their upcoming album, Golden, and when the group is working the inspiration for the new music can come from just about anywhere.  The group’s Charles Kelley tells ABC News and Yahoo.com’s Newsmakers, “Someone may come in with a title for something, Dave usually, we start with the melody, Dave with the guitar progression that he likes and we’ll just start humming and mumbling and then something will come out.”

The other songs on Golden, including Lady A’s latest single, “Downtown,” came from outside songwriters, but the group thinks this project is stronger than their previous projects.

“Everybody says their newest record is the best album yet and for everybody that works for us, I haven’t seen them this excited about a project in a long time,” Charles says.  “That makes us feel really good.”

Golden is due out May 7.
