Lady Antebellum‘s Hillary Scott is keeping her distance from the loud, smoky honky tonks on Nashville’s Lower Broadway now that she’s expecting her first child, but there was a time when heading to downtown Nashville was a really big deal for her.  Hillary grew up in Music City but went to college 40 miles away at Middle Tennessee State University, in Murfreesboro, TN.

She says of her college days, “If you got asked on a date and he drove you to Nashville that was a big deal, you know, because that’s like you’re in college, paying for gas and all that stuff.”

Now that Lady A has released, “Downtown,” a song about a girl wanting her guy to take her into the city, Hillary is reminded of those fun, college dates long before she met her husband, drummer Chris Tyrell.

“It’s like a guy really liked you if he took you all the way to downtown Nashville,” Hillary says with a laugh.

“Downtown” is now available for download at iTunes, and the video will premiere soon.  Lady A’s fourth album will be in stores this spring.
