Blake Shelton wasn’t quite sure what to expect when he first signed on as a coach on The Voice. He assumed the other coaches — Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green — would be aloof and travel with big entourages. Halfway through the show’s first season, however, Blake and the other coaches let their guards down and became friends. That bond has only grown over time.

Blake tells Cowboys & Indians magazine, “Now, especially that we’re into season three, I’ve never seen the four of us closer than we are now and working as well together. We really are all good friends off-camera.”

With the coaches able to steal team members from one another during the battle rounds this season, the coaches on The Voice are arguing on camera more than ever. That doesn’t mean there’s a rift in their friendships, though.

“I don’t know anybody who’s been friends with somebody who didn’t do that,” Blake says of the coaches’ bickering. “It just so happens that we do it in front of the camera.”

Of note, Blake sings a duet with Christina on her upcoming album, Lotus, coming out November 12. According to the track listing at Amazon.com’s UK site, the duet is called “Just a Fool.”
