Taylor Swift reveals the inner workings of her brain in a very candid interview for the cover story of Rolling Stone‘s newest issue. It turns out Taylor has frequent anxiety dreams where she’s constantly trying to clean up piles of clothes all over the floor in her house. The piles keep getting bigger and bigger or are located outside of her reach. She also has dreams about being arrested for doing something she didn’t actually do. When she tries to tell the cops she didn’t do it, they either won’t listen or her voice won’t work.

Trying to interpret all these dreams, Taylor says, “I think I have a big fear of things spiraling out of control. Out of control and dangerous and reckless and thoughtless scares me, because people get hurt.”

Taylor rejects the idea that people who love organization like herself are cold individuals though.

“I’m really open when it comes to letting people in. But I just like my house to be neat, and I don’t like big messes that would hurt people,” Taylor explains. “I don’t want to let people down, or let myself down, or have a lot of people that I know I wrong.”

Taylor admits she hasn’t ever seen a therapist and says she feels “very sane.” That doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel justified in writing about ex-boyfriends that have wronged her. When asked why she doesn’t just call up her exes and tell them off there instead of writing songs about it, Taylor says, “Where’s the fun in that?”

Taylor is now romantically linked to 18-year-old Conor Kennedy, the grandson of one of her heroes and friends Ethel Kennedy. Taylor has gone on record saying she is fascinated with the Kennedy family and their history, but she insists her relationship with Conor isn’t an extension of that Kennedy obsession.

She explains, “It’s like — things happen in my life in coincidental ways that are weird.”

Now that she’s 22 years old, Taylor is showing more leg than ever on the cover of Rolling Stone. That sexy vibe spills over into one of the songs on her new album, Red, that includes the line “I’ll do anything you say if you say it with your hands.” She’s not exactly comfortable discussing that line and is quick to credit it to her co-writer on the song, Dan Wilson.

Another sign of Taylor growing up is her longing for a long term relationship, something that’s eluded her up until now.

“It usually lasts four and a half months, and then it all just disintegrates,” Taylor says, “Then I spend like, a year and a half mourning the loss of it.”

You can hear Taylor chronicling her personal ups and downs on her new album, Red, coming out Monday, October 22. According to Rolling Stone, the new album may feature a collaboration with Snow Patrol as well as her confirmed duet with Ed Sheeran.
