Taylor Swift has already lent her name to two fragrances, a line of greeting cards and a range of sun dresses. Now, she’s branching out into footwear.
Taylor’s just announced a multi-year deal with Keds, the iconic shoe brand. In a statement, the singer says, “I’ve been a fan of Keds for years because they have two of my favorite elements of great style — they’re classic and effortless.”
The first fruit of the partnership will be the introduction of limited-edition red Keds Champions, in honor of Taylor’s new CD, Red. They’ll be available at Keds.com, TaylorSwift.com, Nordstrom.com and Journey.scom starting October 22.
In addition, Taylor’s partnership includes an initiative to encourage young women to share their own stories of strength. The goal is to create a “global community of brave girls who inspire and motivate each other to live their lives to the fullest.” The multimedia campaign will encompass social media initiatives, videos, limited-edition products and scholarship opportunities.
Explaining why Taylor was the right star to team with, a Keds executive said in a statement, “Taylor has become an inspiration to millions and a shining example of what can happen when you set your mind to something.”
