Jason Aldean is no stranger to award nominations, but he was still very happy to learn of his American Music Awards nomination for Favorite Male Artist – Country Tuesday. Jason said, “You just never know when that part of your career is gonna come to an end. I mean, you ain’t gonna get nominated for those things forever.”

Jason is up against his pal Luke Bryan, who is currently opening shows for him on the My Kinda Party tour. Things might get a little awkward between them in the weeks leading up to the AMAs on November 18 though.

“I’ve never won one of those. So, I’d love to have one,” Jason says. He adds with a laugh, “If Luke gets one before I do, I’m gonna be pissed.”

Carrie Underwood picked up two American Music Awards nominations Tuesday including Favorite Female Artist – Country and Favorite Album – Country for Blown Away. She tweeted, “Such a happy day! Thanks to my amazing fans! #blessedforsure!”

Lady Antebellum‘s Hillary Scott took to Twitter to express her gratitude at their Favorite Band, Duo or Group – Country nomination saying, “That’s so awesome!!! We have the best fans in the world!!! Thanks y’all!!”

Rascal Flatts is also up for Favorite Band, Duo or Group – Country. They tweeted, “Thank u everybody for the AMA nomination. We appreciate u all!!”

The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, November 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
