(WASHINGTON) — President Obama will meet with Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi at the White House Wednesday, a senior administration official confirms.

Also Wednesday, the Nobel Peace laureate will be presented with the Congressional Gold Medal at a Capitol ceremony. She was awarded the medal, Congress’ highest honor, in 2008 while under house arrest in her country.

Suu Kyi arrived in the U.S. on Monday for a 17-day visit, her first since her release from detention in 2010.

The president will meet privately with Suu Kyi.
