Taylor Swift premiered a new song Friday night during the Stand Up to Cancer telethon, which aired on several networks.
The ballad “Ronan” was inspired by a boy named Ronan Thompson, a 3-year-old who died last year from neuroblastoma, which is cancer of the nerve tissue. Taylor wrote the song after reading his mother’s blog, and even gives her a co-writing credit on the song.
Following the telethon, the song was released on iTunes, with proceeds benefiting cancer charities.
